Biomedical scientist / Technician

Ensuring the excellent quality of our daily work in the Oroboros O2k-Laboratory your tasks contain:

  • Respirometry measurements with various biological samples as well as measurements of further mitochondrial parameters (ROS production, mt-membrane potential, ATP production, Ca2+) by high-resolution respirometry in combination with fluorescence measurements.
  • Analytical measurements on biological samples: Cell count, protein content, spectrophotometric determination of enzyme activities
  • Application, evaluation and development of protocols – e.g. in the NextGen-O2k project
  • Cell culture and sample preparation, production of buffers, chemicals and media.
  • Quality Control of the O2k-FluoRespirometer
  • Administrative tasks in the laboratory

Your skills:

  • Completed training as a biomedical scientist or similar relevant experience

Postdoctoral researcher

In the Oroboros O2k-Laboratory, 24 O2ks (48 chambers) with the newest O2k-MultiSensor Modules or the NextGen-O2k configuration are available for research and biomedical applications, providing the basis of high-output in high-resolution respirometry.

Your initial key responsibilities will be:

  • Scientific projects on mitochondrial function, including potential collaboration with partners such as the Medical University of Innsbruck
  • Participation in the research and development of our products, including work on the NextGen-O2k and other prototypes.

 

Following in-depth training provided by Oroboros, you may also be asked to:

  • Conduct on-site visits to customers
  • Contribute to O2k-Workshops and training courses on our methods and instruments
  • Provide customer support by the OTRS ticket system

 

Your skills:

  • PhD in biological sciences or closely related field
  • Background in mitochondrial physiology and working experience with the O2k is of benefit
  • Proficiency in English
