VASCage, a research center with a focus on vascular ageing and stroke, is recruiting for a technician. With a strong team of international experts, they develop innovative intervention strategies for early prevention, diagnosis, therapy, and rehabilitation. The project “Functional Mitochondrial Diagnostics” aims to develop protocols and quality management for high-resolution respirometry measurements as a diagnostic service. In your role as Technician, under the supervision of a PostDoc, you will collaborate closely with us (Oroboros Instruments) as their company partner.

Responsibilities:

  • Respirometry measurements with HEK293 T cells and PBMCs by high-resolution respirometry.
  • Analytical measurements on biological samples: Cell count, protein content, spectrophotometric determination of enzyme activities
  • Application, evaluation and development of protocols, software testing
  • Data analysis
  • Cell culture and sample preparation, production of buffers, chemicals and media
  • Quality Control of instruments
  • Ordering and stock maintenance
  • Maintaining equipment records and work logs

Requirements:

  • Completed training as lab technician or alternatively completed a university degree in biological sciences with lab experience
  • Open-minded, creative and motivated personality with a proactive approach
  • Flexibility & willingness to occasionally work weekends (compensated) when required
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Self reliant with attention to detail and careful working method
  • Proficiency in English
